OPAL

At Haydn Primary School, we are very excited to be starting our OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) journey this Spring 2025. Children spend 7 years at primary school and playtime takes up 20% of that time. Our aim is to ensure good quality play opportunities for all of our children every single day; this promoting learning, development, health and happiness.

OPAL Has Launched!

On Wednesday 5th March, we launched our Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) ‘’new look’ lunchtimes. The sun shone and the children had the best time. There was music, roleplay, water and sand play, arts and crafts and den building to name a few of the activities on offer. We wanted to say a huge thank you to you all- children, parents and local community -for your support, donations and money raised during ‘Cheeky Tuesday’ – we simply couldn’t have done it without you! We have seen so many positives already – creativity, problem solving, children playing with a wider peer group but most importantly, having fun!

Autumn Term 2025 OPAL Update

A Huge Thank You!

The summer may be coming to an end but there have definitely been summer vibes in school this week as we opened our brand new sandpit for use during OPAL play! In the words of Bella (year 1), "Thursday was the best day ever!" We’d like to give a massive shoutout and express our deepest gratitude to Rebecca and Michael Flint-Bush, parents of children in school and owners of Concorde BGW Ltd for gifting this to us! Your kindness and generosity have brought so much joy to the children already (and let’s be honest, some of the grown-ups too!) and it’s clearly going to become a favourite spot for digging, building and imaginative play. We truly appreciate your efforts in making our space even more fun and engaging. From all of us at Haydn, thank you for the fun, laughter and entertainment that will be had for many years to come!
